The light is nice and bright. I like that it turns on and off slowly. It can be used manually or set to 8, 10 or 12 hours with automatic sunrise and sunset. With the manual method, you can get blue night light. The brightness of the light can also be adjusted manually. In the past I lost a very big fish when I went in to turn on the light in the tank because the fish got scared of the light and hit the side of the tank and hurt themselves. My light is on for 12 hours. Sunrises and sunsets are built into the program.
