The case I'm using has 8 3.5" bays which I didn't want to miss out on since I have drives with have a capacity of 4 -3 TB and I will use them. For the rest I would either buy the 4-8TB or the 4-12TB I just saw at Segate. I like the 6 drive rack design that occupies a 5.25 drive bay. Great for all the 2.5" drives I had in separate outer cases in one place. Point. I have multiple drives in a raid and as far as I can tell there is no performance penalty from using this product. Looks great and keeps my drives cool with dual 40mm fans. My computer runs 24/7, unfortunately the supplied fans are not enough. I gave it 3 stars precisely because I bought it in June and by July one fan had died completely, shortly after another horrible and terribly loud screeching when turned on. I tested this fan by removing it from the rack so I know nothing is bothering it but still making that horrible noise (this little fan is now the loudest on my system). I've tried running with the fan off, but I really want the drives to cool down. I am fixing this by buying two Noctua NF-A4x20 PWM Premium Silent 40mm fans ($14 each) and will be running them off my motherboard fan headers. I see cheaper fans out there, but I don't like taking apart my system every few months. If I had seen reviews of fans failing I would probably just buy the above fans and install them sooner. I added this rack to my computer. All in all I would buy these again and just upgrade the fans to more reliable fans. Installed a 3-1.5TB disk in Raid 0. doesn't care about redundancy for that 1-750GB data set. Hybrid hard drive 2-250 GB SSD in Raid 1
