I've been using MX Ergo for a long time. I lost my Logitech Unifying receiver last week and decided now is the time to try this Elecom which I was looking at mostly out of curiosity. I use trackballs for everything from web surfing to Photoshop to FPS gaming. I'll buy another Unifying receiver and probably put that trackball aside, but it's not all bad. I like that the mouse is wired. The DPI switch is handy, and having the "sniper" mode as a third click instead of a button next to the ball is a much better design than the Ergo. The ball can actually (hardly) be removed with the little finger, which is impossible and quite annoying with the Ergo. I have a large hand and can hold this mouse comfortably. Your hand takes its place on this mouse where, like the Ergo, your hand simply rests. This mouse is many times lighter than the Ergo. The mouse is an uncoated plastic body (very similar to the m570), while the Ergo has a nice rubberized finish where your palm rests. Ergo has a tilt feature which I prefer as I use a vertically tilted mouse. I've used this Elecom enough that the bearings are more than broken in and I'm not too happy. Even after attempting deep cleaning and replacing the balls in ergo gray, 570 blue etc., the bearings always feel like sand. Ergonomics are much more fluid, although I would put the Elecom well ahead of the Elecom Huge in terms of stock quality. All in all, it's not a terrible trackball. It has some features that I would really like to have in my Ergo and the fact that it's wired is a huge plus in my opinion. If this mouse had smoother bearings I'd give it a strong recommendation given its price point, although regardless of the quality of the bearings, the Ergo's build quality makes it a clear winner if money isn't an issue. If you want the best thumb trackball, get the MX Ergo. I've tried them all. If you just want to take a dip in the water, buy the m570. Unfortunately, I can't think of a situation in which I would recommend this trackball.
