Yes, the case is aluminum, but there's no shortage of plastic, if any. First, it's undeniably convenient, and as such solves several cord and dangling splitter issues. But 1) I had to unscrew the end of the mug at the screw that tightens at the bottom of the countertop because it's not big enough! 2) So many plugs these days have mini-transformers as part of the plugs that you only have two usable outlets. All of this is generic and obviously not unique to this product. I bought two and am happy with them for the problems they solve. I wish the outlets were more strategically placed. 3) Some may be bothered by the plastic interface that connects the output part to the table edge clamp that is too small. 4) After reading my own review I was tempted to give another star but no. Reason to highlight this product when others are not better!
