Good reason to buy and prepare. It cost me a third of what I would have to send to a repair shop or buy another printer. After trying to contact Brother over the phone for a repair they gave me a list of authorized dealers but most of them didn't repair. Those who repaired gave me an estimate equal to the cost of a new one. Being a bit tech savvy I decided to do the repair myself after doing some research and ordering this kit. Included was a flash drive with instructional videos on YouTube that I could have gotten my hands on. For the most part, the instructions were helpful to an extent, but they were written by non-technical people who did a good job of explaining even though English seemed to be his primary language. It was obvious that he was not a technician as he used non-technical terms to describe printer components that needed to be disassembled and replaced. The lecturer overlooked the warning that when removing the flimsy connectors, the minicable must be carefully removed or the fuser board could be damaged, which unfortunately I did. Luckily I found another video that specifically tells you how to remove the cables and what needs to be replaced. So I ordered a board from an online company, replaced the board, and reconnected the cables. Now the printer works like new. The backup rollers in this repair have worked flawlessly so far. I would only recommend Technica to revisit the videos they provide with the kit and provide something more "professional" and technical to help the non-technical ones. Otherwise I don't recommend doing anything other than replacing the fuser rollers unless you feel "technically competent".
