Review on Commercial FoodSaver Pack Vacuum Storage Solution by Amanda Stevenson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for storing my freezer and pantry!

I have an old-school foodsaver - plain white that literally just seals. I hand cut the size I need, seal one end - put food in, then vacuum seal the other. When food shortages began, cooking home-cooked meals was the most comforting thing. The ingredients are often not always available. Instead of going to multiple stores to look for what I needed, I started buying cuts of meat or whatever was available. I also do extra meals to stock a freezer and pantry. I had to vacuum to extend the shelf life. The Foodsaver packs were expensive and I quickly ran out and decided to give them a try. I wouldn't say they are thinner, but they are more flexible and seem to fit food better than Foodsaver pouches. It also didn't have as many sharp edges as the Foodsaver brand products. You will receive 2 rolls: 11 inches wide x 50 feet long. That's 100 feet for $22! Great price and BPA free. Each role is continuous. , sealed on each side, and you can cut to the size you want. One side is smooth and shiny, the other is textured - just like the Foodsaver brand. I'm not a fan of plastic directly on food and often use delicatessen paper or parchment in between. This doesn't seem to affect the vacuum seal at all. The real test is how they hold up in the freezer over time. A couple of my Foodsaver brand bags failed within a month. I do not know why. This brand had no problems. I noticed that if I didn't wait long enough between welds, the heat would melt it at the seam. This didn't happen if I just waited 20 seconds between welds. Groceries, packaged items like flour, tortillas, frozen veggies, etc. I sealed a few pounds of dried garbanzo beans to put in the pantry. These bags really match the uneven contours of the beans. I also quickly freeze leftovers in to-go bowls, such as: We no longer need takeout as there is always homemade food in the freezer - we have already saved hundreds of dollars. I hope others can use vacuum sealing to save on frozen supplies and reduce trips to the grocery store. These bags are definitely a great price to start with. Also search YouTube for tips on vacuum packaging products. **Update: Some packages have lost their seal. There is no hole but a slow leak. I would say it's 1% bounce which is the same for the Foodsaver brand.
