Useful; different than a few years ago

I had a Ninja blender a few years ago before I moved twice, lost it and ended up buying another one. I've had this one for over a month now to review with confidence. A big annoyance are the little springs on the sides, which are there to help you align the top of the big pitcher and keep you from fitting it the wrong way around before mixing anything. It makes me crazy. I constantly have to bend down to look at the pin and insert it into the canal before I can do anything. This feature alone made me deduct a star because this feature has given me more lid retention issues than I have ever had with a Ninja product. Your blenders weren't as grumpy a few years ago as they are today. If you ignore this safety feature the blender will clean itself very nicely after rinsing, some soap and water, grinding, rinsing again and drying aside. I use it all the way to make smoothies and nothing else. However, the little one cuts vegetables very cleanly for roasting. If you like making pancakes, you can also do this by mixing all the ingredients together. Try to keep liquids at the bottom rather than the top to prevent powdery residue from sticking to the base. The blades are insanely sharp, so be careful. That's why this blender works so effectively. I gently tapped the blade on the dryer with my pinky and it cut very deep. So make sure you put something on the dryer blades to avoid accidents. Remember this is below too. I recommend a clear plastic storage container.
