There is no way this printer will communicate with my computer. An Ethernet cable or a USB cable is not registered. The kit does not come with assembly instructions. In fact, it comes in several different languages without instructions. The control menu on board the printer is completely useless. It has a very nice application, but never mind if the application installed on your computer cannot communicate with the printer under any circumstances. I think I have a stone that I need to send back. Your mileage may vary. UPDATE: The printer isn't communicating because it doesn't have WiFi. It needs to be connected to your router with an ethernet cable (which HP doesn't include - instead they just offer a phone line, presumably for faxing features nobody else uses). Blame Revain because their product comparison page says this printer has WiFi. I have relied on this product comparison data. If I had known the printer didn't have wifi, I wouldn't have bought it. My router is not on the table; it's in a closet across the room. Just to see if that would work I found an old ethernet cable, took the printer to the router closet and plugged it in. Yes it works, but keeping the printer in a closet is impractical for me. The automatic paper feed for the scanner does not work either. Pages are not included automatically. OPTIONAL UPDATE: The printer actually works fine, although I wouldn't buy it if I knew it didn't have WiFi capability. But I figured I could live with that in a closet wired to my router. The same WiFi-enabled printer costs nearly $200 more. The scanner's sheet feeder also WORKS, but you must use a downloadable application on your computer and tell the application whether you want the scanner to face the sheet feeder or the scanner glass. You can use any of them, you just have to select them in the application and if you assign a page indent, the pages will be indented. In general, pages don't capture perfectly straight, but the app allows you to straighten PDFs after scanning.
