Soft, sturdy gloves, but what kind of glued metal ornament?

These gloves are very soft and feel warm and well fitted. They are the perfect size for our 5 year old. BUT I don't understand why literally each of them has a small metal plaque stuck on it that can't be removed. All I see is this thing sticking to clothing, scratching the surface and eventually falling off leaving a gnarly stain underneath. I don't understand. Why put it there? You would be perfect without him.

Nice warm gloves. My little man loves them

Cons

They *might* fit my son in the winter, but I doubt it. Otherwise good quality.
