Review on Old English Scratch Bottle Polish Household Supplies by Eric Pavelko

I used this product to try to cover up some scratches on my cherry wood staircase. Here's the thing, it's like wood stain and should soak into the wood, if it does it will hide the scratch well. I think most of the bad reviews come from situations where people have tried using this over a polyurethane or lacquer finish. In this case, the product does not penetrate the wood and only serves as a cleaner to polish the wood. There were several spots on my stairs where I had to gently scratch the surface to penetrate the polyurethane layer to actually allow this product to soak into the wood. This may seem counterproductive, but for me it made the scratch much better than before. This is not a miracle product that will remove every scratch from any surface.
