The new Ford Escapes require you to fold the filter for easy installation. This filter is quite stiff and pressure resistant, making it quite difficult to install compared to a standard filter. However, this is not a standard filter. So I would have given the standard filter 4 stars instead of 2 or 3 if it was just as difficult to install.
