Review on Mavea 1001122 Replacement Filtration Pitcher by Patrick Diaz

I am frustrated as I have been using this filter glass for many years because I love its user friendly design and the filters themselves are USED to do a great job but somewhat happened and the quality has fallen. The first problem was that one of the filters in the 3 pack was completely broken. It must have been crushed because the plastic ripped in several places and all the filter material spilled out. I emailed the manufacturer directly regarding this with the hope that I can just get a replacement and not have to issue a full refund through Revain. That was 5 days ago and they still haven't responded. The second issue and the main reason I'm writing this review is that these filters are rubbish. I went ahead and used one of the intact filters and when I tasted the water it tasted VERY BAD even compared to my tap water. Since I am also interested in aquariums, I decided to do a pH test. I now live in Los Angeles, known for its very alkaline (alkaline) city water. I tested this as a control against straight from the jug water and found that the filter makes my water EXTREMELY ACIDIC. Well. Mavea filtered water is tested at pH 6.4! That's a HUGE DIFFERENCE and downright bad for you! If you drink this acidic water regularly then enjoy the crazy indigestion it will give you, aside from the fact that it tastes awful. I am trying to return my purchase because there is no way I would drink it.
