After 6 years I thought I should give an update. These fans are NOT high quality and NOT worth the premium price. maintenance costs skyrocket. Electronics have very serious problems. I've had to replace all the wall switches multiple times (they have a 12-16 month lifespan), about $50 each time, and now all the receivers are starting to fail ($120 each). The lifetime engine warranty is a marketing ploy (electronics are not part of the engine) and the fine print indicates that it is only valid in the continental United States. It also turns out that the electronics part numbers are the same as very cheap fans. I would rate this product zero stars (but is not available). Learn from my mistake and avoid those expensive fans, they don't last long. over time.1-2021******************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ***** I am in the process of upgrading six Hunter Classic 1980-s fans using these ecosystems from Emerson. I live on a Caribbean island and electricity is very expensive here ($0.56 vs. $0.07 compared to the States). We run fans 24/7 for cooling, mosquito and mold control. Everything I read pointed to significant power savings that could be achieved by upgrading, so I bought a fan to install and check power consumption. I ran a series of KW tests on an old Hunter and a new Emerson. Here is some data I wrote down that you might find useful. When I tried to get this information I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. The Hunter has three speeds: 1 (low uses 35 Wh), 2 (uses 78 Wh), and 3 (high uses 135 Wh). Emerson has 6 speeds, 1 (low consumes 4Wh). , 2 (5Wh usage), 3 (8Wh usage), 4 (13Wh usage), 5 (21Wh usage), 6 (31Wh high usage) from 52" Hunter Blades to 60" Emerson Blades. The best estimate of the airflow comparison seems to be that they are very similar at low and high levels, with the Hunter midrange matching Emerson's Level 3. 613 kWh per year, which at my electricity rate translates to a savings of $325 per year on my electric bill. If I run the fans at high speed, the savings add up to $482 per year (that's a payback period of about 1 year, or a 97% internal rate of return for financial types). Multiply that by six fans and the numbers are significant. OTHER ADVANTAGES: - Emerson doesn't make any noise, unlike the old Hunter that made a hurricane. should have odd length bottom bars and could use ½" galvanized rigid electrical wire (need to drill a few holes to install locking pin) and spray paint. - Emerson motor housing is closed, there are no open vents, on that collect dust and need cleaning. All controls are on the wall, no more climbing 30 foot ladders to change settings. FINAL REMARKS: I have sold the last three replacements and will buy them as soon as possible the budget allows.
