Worn out carpeting has been replaced thanks to this kit!

This past weekend I ripped out the old carpet from my office (150 square feet) and replaced it with laminate flooring (Smartcore) using this kit. The kit made it easy by having everything I really needed except cutting and measuring tools. (I needed a jigsaw, carpenter's square, contour gauge, and hearing protection to finish the job.)The tapping block fit the boards perfectly and shifted them into place without damaging the lip (as long as it was lined up correctly). The pull bar works fine for the average room, but I have wall registers, and it was just a little too tall to fit under them. (I probably should have purchased a specialty pull bar to make finishing the room.) The hammer worked well to tap both the boards, block, and pull bar. There aren't enough spacers to do a full room, but they are needed as there are more than enough to get you going until you can trim the scrap boards to act as spacers further into the room. The only part of the kit I wasn't impressed with knee pads. The straps were tight enough to be uncomfortable around my legs, and I'm just above average size for a woman.Still, this is a good kit, and I was glad to have it while I tackled this DIY install.I've included a before and after picture- yes, the carpet is nasty, which is why it HAD to go.

Pros
  • Building Materials
Cons
  • The kit is not cost-effective, as it contains several low-quality tools that may need to be replaced frequently
