GARBAGE! I have no idea if it filters water or not, it doesn't fit properly. My fridge was in need of repairs so the old filter was removed and the water shut off. I ordered this one and after half an hour of wiggling and twisting and coaxing I put it back in place - at least that's what I thought. I turned on the water and the filter started to fill, but obviously both sides weren't fully open (there's a weird piece of plastic on the inlet on one side) because air got trapped and the clamping mechanism never adjusted properly. , the filter flew out, splashed water, almost hit my face, cut my hand and broke the optional front panel. If a kid opens the door, this thing could really hurt someone! The old filter snaps on easily, it won't settle no matter how hard I try. Checked for correctness. Don't waste your money on this crap because it won't fit and you'll end up bleeding like me.
