I definitely should have read the latest reviews on this lock before buying it. It has a nice design and it would be great if only the locking mechanism worked properly. Unfortunately you program the lock, it works the first time, and then it never works again. The bad thing is that once the lock is locked, you can't manually open the lock from the other side due to a faulty chip that freezes the manual release lever... leaving you trapped in a space that there's no way to out unless you accidentally eat a screwdriver and can disassemble the lock. Using the key function only works if you have someone with the key on the opposite side of the door. Not only is this lock rubbish, it's also incredibly insecure. When it burns you get burned alive before the castle is taken apart and for a man who has just lost his home and everything he had in the Almeda forest fire, this full force castle set off my panic attacks. Now I'm afraid to lock the door for fear of falling into the trap of a broken mechanical lock. To be honest this is one of the worst purchases I have ever made. Please save yourself this nightmare, pay some extra money and buy one at hardware store. Well worth the extra $100 to buy a lock that might not kill you.
