Poor quality screws, they break (after drilling pilot holes) when the metal is harder than aluminum. If you have a metal plate you may need a washer for the top screw that sits above the plate to sit flush with the two bottom plates. Because the screws are made of very soft metal, in order to force them through the nickel plate, after drilling the pilot hole, you need to slowly and carefully apply a small amount of torque to the screw and stop the screw, loosen the screw, and then repeat until the hole is glued. Do not overtighten the screws after inserting.
