I've kept my Netgear 150-N router for the last 8 years. It's old but reliable. After reading reviews of new AC routers, all top brands get dozens of failures and problems. This device had good reviews so I gave it a try due to the low price. --- The router it replaced was struggling in a 1,600-square-foot, two-story townhouse. ft. distance from router above. to the TV box below. also about 70 feet wide on the opposite side of the house. which brings my 50Mbps down to 8 or 10Mbps with an old Netgear router depending on competing signals from about 9 other neighbors. --- In my home office, I placed the Netis on a stand with all four antennae raised like a mohican prairie dog and plugged in ONE computer. The ports on the back are all gigabit, so the speed is amazing. Back on my main computer, I opened the browser at 192.168.1.1. The menu appears immediately. and I quickly switched to advanced mode. Note that there are two different logins. one for 2.4 and 5.0. As soon as I got downstairs, I loaded up my set top box with an N and A/C combo receiver. After reading and realizing that the new A/C standard is not very strong in terms of distance, I tried it first and only got 3Mbps. However, when I switched to the 2.4 band, I got 34Mbps. Yowza! You can test your Wi-Fi speed by visiting Speedtest (dot) Net site, which is used by all high speed internet experts during setup test. Netis does not come with a detailed user manual. Here are some tips. -- Before adding anything else, make sure the router and your main computer are the only devices on the wired network. You may also need a reset signal from your ISP after the first connection. Change the group names as you like and use different passwords if you like. The auto Wi-Fi sync button for adding other Wi-Fi devices to the network is orange (on the back) and awkward to press. But it works. and it synced to my Canon Wifi laser printer in about 30 seconds. I am very satisfied with this product.
