Reliable but minimally customizable

01/14/2015 I have had this router for a few days in a house with seven people who all use the internet daily. So far it's been pretty reliable. The range is quite large. I can get a good 802.11n signal from my backyard about 100 feet from my router through seven walls (all wood and drywall). I haven't tested the 802.11ac signal range, but I believe it goes further than 802.11n. Speed is all I expected, although QoS isn't as configurable as I'd like. You cannot prioritize by protocol or…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Broken

Review Date: Feb 14, 2015 I was looking for an 802.11ac repeater and found this brand that I wasn't familiar with. I knew it was a router, but it can also act as a repeater/access point. So I thought I tried. My scenario is as follows. my Apple Extreme Time Machine (latest version) is in my den and the living room is about 50 feet away from a lot of the signal reflecting footage, causing the HD streaming from my den in the den to stutter. I used to use an old Apple Extreme router (in bridge…

Dual Band Wireless AC Gigabit Router

This is a basic router with a medium output. It's easy to set up and the default settings are justified, but I've had better results with a little tweaking. The router does not come with a manual, so you must have some knowledge of router technology and protocols. I've decided to use this router as a wireless access point, but its 2.4GHz output and coverage are no match for the workhorse D-Link DAP-2590 it replaces. The 5GHz band is fine, but the upper channels 149-161 are underpowered and…

I am a computer scientist. NOTHING comes close in this price range

I've kept my Netgear 150-N router for the last 8 years. It's old but reliable. After reading reviews of new AC routers, all top brands get dozens of failures and problems. This device had good reviews so I gave it a try due to the low price. --- The router it replaced was struggling in a 1,600-square-foot, two-story townhouse. ft. distance from router above. to the TV box below. also about 70 feet wide on the opposite side of the house. which brings my 50Mbps down to 8 or 10Mbps with an old…
