Review on Walker Products 245 1236 Mass Sensor by Nathan Vaughn

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It works out. Bye. UPDATED

I installed this mass air flow sensor on my 2007 Honda Element LX MT 10 days ago. This replaced an old OEM that I wasn't very good at cleaning up. It had 200,000 miles, so maybe that's why. I was hoping for a little better gas mileage and a slight increase in horsepower when I replaced the MAF and MAP sensors and PCV valve together. The result is debatable, but it seems that the performance has become something more. The best way to measure fuel consumption is on the freeway, which is when I walk through town. I haven't done this yet, so I'll use the Christmas travel season to better measure highway miles. The product corresponds to the price. My local Honda dealer wants $179 for a new MAF sensor. That should not have happened. I've looked at Delphi (claims to be OEM) for $46, Denso (a known OEM) for $76, and this unit for $31. All three prices were listed on Revain at the time of purchase. I chose Walker because it was cheap and I figured if he gave me a code I would just return it. Luckily for me, I found a "used" Revain in stock for $11! I took a chance believing I couldn't lose at this price. The packaging was perfect, the box was intact and only the bag inside was opened with the fixing screws still in the bag. It looked like someone just ordered the wrong thing. It looks like it hasn't been touched. If you are in need, you can try this MAF sensor for Honda Elements or Accord that use the same 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine. Engines. Seems to be OK. It could fail tomorrow, in two months, or in five years, but even at around $30, you really can't go wrong if you're tight on cash. My mass air flow sensor didn't fail so I still have it as a backup. I'll update if this thing fails within an unacceptable amount of time. I suppose if I get a year of this it's perfectly acceptable, and at that point I'll just get an OEM Denso. Updated: 12/28/19. The thing failed on December 24th, 2019. When I used my code reader, the check engine light came on and read "P0171 System Too Lean Bank 1". I put the old sensor in and the light went out after a few hours of driving or about a day and a half. That went on for about three weeks. Not bad for $11 I think. Sent back and refunded.

Pros
  • MAF fault symptoms include poor starting, engine surges, engine stalls, check engine light and no start. Sensors are maintenance free, replace non-functioning sensors
Cons
  • I will add later
