I chose between this and an invisible fence to give my dog enough space to run outside. An invisible fence would have given more room to manoeuvre, but was much more expensive and difficult to install. This was relatively easy to set up, but make sure you don't set it too high as you want your dog to have freedom of movement to the left and right of the runner and not have to stay directly under them at all times. Mine is probably 6 feet off the ground in the middle and 8 feet off the ground at the ends. It is very difficult to pull this 100 foot cable in a way that is consistent throughout its length. I'm only giving 4 stars because sometimes the umbrella just gets stuck as if stuck in a hook with no rhyme or reason. I can get it working again by dragging the slider at different angles, so it's not too hard to fix, just fiddly.
