It was determined that because we were getting a new car, we should also change the oil in the engine. Prior to that, I had been consistently putting in TOYOTA SN 5W-30 class oil, and nobody had mentioned anything about it. After doing an in-depth review of laboratory data (which is available on the Internet), I came to the conclusion that the oils differ somewhat in a number of different characteristics. In certain areas, Lukoil performed better, while in other areas, TOYOTA did better; however, in general, the quality of products produced by both producers is satisfactory. Because the cost of repairing an automobile is typically far more than the purchase price, the price itself is mostly irrelevant in principle. The question of whether or not the domestic producer produces oil of a grade comparable to that of Mobil served as the impetus for the purchase. In most cases, I would respond that the answer is yes to that question. If oils are tested under really harsh laboratory circumstances, then the indicators between pricey foreign ones and ours like Lukoil differ somewhat (by the way, oil tests are also very easy to find on the internet). However, it is important to keep in mind that these are high-load tests, and that such conditions will never arise when the engine is being operated normally. If the oil is changed at the appropriate intervals, then there is no room for debate on the matter.
