I use this level to adjust guides on CNC plasma cutting tables. With this I can get a level that is as good as many of the "Master Mechanic Levels" that sell for many times the price. This is the quality I have come to expect from Starrett. It's durable (I travel a lot with it) and accurate. It was already calibrated when I received it but not certified. I checked the spirit level on a known granite slab and could not find any deviation in all directions. When the bubble is within the inner lines, you know you are as good as you can be. There are optical devices and laser devices that can be used to improve accuracy, but they often cost thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. This is sufficient for 99% of all applications.
