Let me start with a disclaimer: all I want from a scanner is to quickly scan greyscale black and white materials in the office. I bought/tested a few supposedly fast scanners and was disappointed (Canon bought thinks 45 seconds and then scans!) Well, Epson delivers 200 dpi scans, I can do partial pages in 5-6 seconds. and full pages in 12 seconds (from pressing the scan button to the end). You can bypass the preview mode and send scans directly to a program or file. The software has good points (you can save all scan settings for different scans) and bad points (sometimes it doesn't feel like it, for example some features only activate after you do a pre-scan). Can't comment on other features I don't use, but for $$$ it's a speed daemon!
