We have an air purifier in every room in our home. We use the Awair monitor to monitor indoor air quality. The quality of the air we breathe is extremely important. I bought this for our bedroom to replace the smaller, louder Holmes unit. This is a large size for an average room. You can place it next to the wall, which is very convenient. It was very quiet even with Area+ mode on all the time. It has a huge filter so I expect it to last a very long time. Since it has a built-in air quality monitor, turn it on and forget about it. He will take care of everything else. The dust has gone down and we haven't had any allergy issues. The display backlight is cool but very bright at night. I wish the unit had a built in dimmer. It also gives off a very strong plastic smell for the first few weeks. It is very strange that an air purifier has such a strong plastic smell. I almost returned it because of this, but the smell started to wear off. All in all, you won't find a better air purifier for the money. I wish I had found it before I bought Holmes and Herm Guardian devices.
