What Startech really doesn't want you to know about its USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter

What Startech really doesn't want you to know about their USB 3.0 Dual HDMI AdapterI always give a star to get your attention when a potential buyer wants to know something about a product. In this case, the Startech USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter has two HDMI adapters, but only one of them has 4k resolution. I was unaware of this when I purchased this item and was very disappointed because I have two extra 4k displays and wanted two extra 4k displays. I already had a Startech Single HDMI Adapter. I bought it in 2018. It worked great with my 4k display. I recently decided to add another 4k display, so of course I bought a USB 3.0 to dual HDMI adapter, thinking it would have two 4k HDMI outputs. It's not like this. Only one of the HDMI outputs is 4k. The second is 1080, which of course looks terrible on a 4k display. Startech is quite cautious about this. They don't actually misrepresent their product, but again, you need to look for that information. It seems to me that Startech is perfectly fine if you think you're getting two 4k outputs from your device. It's not like this. Luckily, I was able to plug a Startech HDMI adapter that I already had and a new dual output adapter into two separate USB ports and get 4k output from each, so the problem is solved. However, if you think you are buying a device with a USB 3.0 to dual HDMI adapter with two 4k outputs, you are wrong and will be disappointed. If you need two additional 4k outputs I would try buying two Startech USB 3.0 to HDMI adapters and see if you can use both at the same time. You save money. BTW I didn't see the blue screen of death that other one star reviewers are referring to. Most of the reviews seem to have been published a few years ago. Maybe because I didn't see this problem on my system, Startech updated their software to fix this problem.
