Review on Monroe OESpectrum 37217 Shock 🔧 Absorber: Superior Quality Shocks & Struts by Gaurav Ansong

I installed these shocks on my 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid that had the original 130,000 mile shocks. These new Monroe shocks make a noticeable difference in handling. Less lean, rolls and wobbles in all conditions. The handling is really like new and I feel much safer behind the wheel, especially at high speeds. The only downside, in my opinion, was the new upper bushings that came with the kit and were inferior to the original bushings that came with the car. There are some good videos showing how easy installation is and all recommend reusing OEM boots which offer more surface area and may be more durable. I spent an hour preparing to remove the inner door panels to get to the top bracket and remove the old dampers. This took a little longer than expected because I didn't have an impact wrench and had to make an emergency trip to the hardware store to get a more powerful vise to keep the upper shaft from turning when I removed it along with the box wrench. A ratcheting box wrench is paramount when removing the top nut while holding the shaft in a vise. I was a bit disappointed that the nut for the top mount is metric and the bolt for the bottom mount is SAE. Previously, all American cars were SAE and imports were metric. Now American cars often have both on the same car. 😆
