No problem. on computers and accessories

I disagree with the reviewers who speak negatively of this lock. I've been using one for over a year and just got another one. Both were the same product which IS the product shown in the picture. There are color differences between them that are barely noticeable and are probably due to one of them being over a year old while the other is brand new. I repeat that I have had it for over a year. At that time there were phases in which I used the lock several times a day. By use I mean take it out of the backpack, walk around the table and attach it to the laptop, use the laptop, unlock the laptop and table lock and return to the backpack. And never accidentally changed the combination. I didn't even know it was possible until reading these reviews. I feel like it's not easy to accidentally change it to the reset position when using the lock as you have to plug in the cable to change the combination. To be honest I don't know how people did it. Although I suspect people can find a way to accidentally reset their combo no matter how you change it. Both of my computers run on my HP and my MacBook Pro, and I've had no problem lending the old one to friends and family who use different computers. It takes practice to be able to insert and lock the lock easily, but I think that goes for any lock. Basically, the concept is that a T-shaped piece of metal is inserted into the hole. The T-shaped part must be fully in the hole, otherwise you will not be able to turn the lock. Then, while holding the button, rotate the lock 90 degrees (whichever direction it is). When you release the button, two pins are released right next to the center of the T. These pins fill the hole so the lock cannot be turned and the T snaps on the back of the inside making it impossible to pull the lock straight to lock. It takes practice to know exactly how far to release the button in one turn for the pins to engage easily. Additionally, if you don't hold down the button when trying to insert the lock, it's almost impossible and will likely scratch your computer. Speaking of scratches, I have one (very small) complaint. The locks come with some sort of foam pad on the side that touches the side of your computer. I would guess that this padding is there to protect the computer from scratches. However, compared to the length of the tee, it is too thick. So if you're not very careful, the computer will eventually scrape off the gasket, leaving bare metal that could scratch your computer. Glue too. I also hate the sound foam bursting makes. But there are no bad scratches on my computer. There are a few that are barely visible right on the edges of the hole, but honestly, who's looking for them? Overall, this lock is basically perfect. I even like the fact that unlike other locks I've looked at (which were MUCH more expensive), the cable goes straight into the lock and not perpendicular to it. This will ensure it doesn't block any other openings on the side of my computer!

Cons
  • Waiting too long
