Actually, this product is fine. It's sharp, its external dimensions and design are almost identical to my old Microplane. BUT the pictures don't lie. It doesn't produce as thin a peel or grated parmesan. For most needs this will be great. Unfortunately, if you want your citrus peel to really disappear while you're cooking, you'll have to pay a bit more for a real micro. Mine is getting boring and now I paid $8.99 for what I'm giving away because it's no different than the extra long I bought last year for cheddar etc and I'm still shelling out the money to order to replace your microplane. If you're a snotty foodie like me (and have your own tech lines), this will make a difference. Otherwise, it deserves its good ratings.
