I have installed 3 aquariums with it so far. I dosed ammonia the first time and to be honest I couldn't tell if it got better or not. In the other two I used 1 fish and a reef hermit. The tanks I rode the fish in were small 7 gallon and 12 gallon live Caribbean rocks. Neither tank ever had an appreciable amount of ammonia or nitrite and nitrates were detected from day 2 in one tank and from day 3 in the other. I will note that my ammonia dosed aquarium had a lot more algae and "worked" a lot more for the first few months, but had a much larger bacterial population and could handle a much higher biological load when it was ready (40g for reproduction). I personally will never use ammonia again. The fish cycle requires a much slower stocking rate and I add Biospira with every addition. I feel comfortable recommending this to people as my results have been good but as with everything YMMV.2/12/20 after 3 months I have finished stocking my 4th marine fish tank with this one. Starting with 2 fish from the first day 30 long. You have 5 fish now and for the first few days you never had any detectable ammonia or nitrite (tested daily, Salifert and Red Sea kits) and nitrate. I started this 4 years ago and all the fish are still alive and doing well although I lost one of my hermit crabs for some reason. But then again I seem to have very long lived pets, I still have a cockatiel when I was eleven and now I'm in my forties. Be sad the day he's gone, let me tell you. Anyway very happy with this product.
