You get what you pay for.

If you buy this as a child lock on a window you will probably be mostly happy with the results. The construction is barely strong enough for the purpose and the build quality is marginal. The unit I received (rather on time, a day late) had the screw holes not well aligned and one was even drilled right into the edge of the flange so it wasn't even fully surrounded by metal and the hole lined up with the was edge, edge. The supplied screws are not security screws, but normal Phillips screws. They show an example of using a padlock to keep the hinge closed, but the single padlock hole is so close to the sill that you're having trouble getting the shackle through. Installation was pretty easy and straightforward for me. After fiddling with it a bit and it all dried up. As long as you have a decent drill/driver you should be fine. As security/anti-theft protection, they serve as decoration to a large extent. Of course, nothing will stop a determined thief, and at best ALL the streaks are a temporary delay, but it's not so much. However, they serve as a visual deterrent and I will probably buy another set for another small window, which is not a big risk anyway. If you intend to use them as security guards and need a quick emergency exit, you'll probably have to come up with your own as the product's scope of delivery isn't suitable for that purpose. They cost about 1/4 of the security bars I plan to buy for the large windows in my house, so I bought one to test fit and functionality. As the old saying goes. You get what you pay for. Average Chinese craftsmanship.
