Review on πŸ”΄ Red KISS Titanium Flat Iron, 1/2-inch by Kurt Ferguson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Worked well until it stopped after 6 months

I liked this iron and used it occasionally (maybe 15 total times in 6 months). The temperature control feature is useful, although I only turned the dial to medium on the first day and never changed it again in the future. On a medium setting, the iron straightens/curls your hair perfectly and quickly. I also really liked the narrow plates of the ironing board - just the right size for drawing medium and short hair. All in all, purely functionally, this iron deserves 5 stars. But in terms of durability, it's terrible. As I said, I've used this iron about 15 times and never used it on high settings. My haircut is a short bob so it doesn't take much time to style the entire head - around 5-7 minutes. This means that this iron has been used for a total of 15*7=105 minutes (less than two hours) and has stopped working! The last time I turned it on the light didn't come on and the iron didn't get hot. 100% dead, no abuse or damage on my part. I contacted the company to see what I could do and their only solution was to offer to send the iron back and they would inspect it and go under the warranty. Process. Given that I have to pay for such shipping out of pocket, it didn't make sense for me to spend more money on it than on the product itself (I bought this iron on sale for $8). May I point out that this return procedure does not qualify as a "hassle free" guarantee as stated on the Kiss website. In conclusion, this iron deserves zero stars for its durability, as does the company that does not offer a satisfactory solution to its customers. All in all I give this iron 2 stars. While I liked the functionality of this iron, its durability and warranty issues taught me to avoid buying Kiss products in the future.
