We recently moved our 1.5 year old toddlers to the table from their highchairs. They've loved the transition, but quickly started putting scratches and dents in the table as they love to tap their silverware around. I looked at some different options to help protect the table and make life a little easier for us in terms of clean up. Someone bought me an item like this a few years back for baking, and I thought it might be a good option. I like that they are a shade of brown so it doesn't scream KID'S PLACEMAT. They are a nice weight and a great size. They're working well as giant placemats for now. I think they'll serve as a great base for other projects too (coloring, play-doh, painting, etc.).The box ours came in was damaged, similar to what others said. I wouldn't want to give them as a gift in that box, but this was just for us, so we didn't care. There was no issue with the product itself. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to anyone looking to use it like we are, or for rolling / cutting dough!
