They open downwards and outwards.* Required assembly consists of four wheels snapping into the base and two handles on the sides. The first takes a few seconds to understand, after that it's half a minute max. The handles are slightly slower than the wheels. * The lid is a bit awkward to put back on as the sides can slip slightly. You can open one side to reach it and put the other back in place.* Folds in seconds, unfolds a little longer.
