There are many great things about this display, but a few flaws keep it from being the perfect monitor even at this price point. The panel and image reproduction in 30-bit SDR mode is amazing. Colors look great out of the box, but definitely need calibration if you're going to use them seriously in design. It covers +99% sRGB and +97% DCI-P3. The display becomes bright enough and can be used for almost any type of work. And that's it, it's a great display and if you want to use it for creative work or just want a really nice and beautiful display, that's great! So now for the cons. Each one is small but foldable and maybe one of them can be an obstacle for you depending on your usage.1. USB-C isn't ThunderBolt 3: it's a godsend for those who were hoping one port from their computer to everything else would work. And that's because the USB ports on the display can only run at USB 2.0 speeds to get a 4k @ 60Hz image on the display. This means that if you were hoping to plug in things like an ethernet adapter, you should still power it through a different port on your laptop. It also means you don't have access to any sort of daisy chain, which can be extremely useful for those using multiple monitors. I haven't tested this monitor's USB-C port running through a ThunderBolt dock, so I don't know if it's possible. If you really need that functionality, Dell makes the UP2720, but it'll cost you about three times as much. Color modes are useless for most people: the standard calibration is not good enough to use color modes. I can't remember why, but the white dot for built-in P3 DCI looks very green. So the best way to get the best colors from your monitor is to run it at a color temperature of 6500K and calibrate from there. You still have access to a large color space. (I'll get to HDR later) 3. Poor quality bezel/bezel: The display is surrounded by some of the softest plastics I've seen. Maybe it's because the monitors sit side-by-side better, but it's not an ideal look. Worst of all the buttons are on the bottom, many monitors have a QC defect (mine included) where the bezel seems to detach a bit from the monitor body making the buttons easy to press. annoying more than others. A very small complaint because it's still a great looking monitor, but those who are really distracted by small flaws can get frustrated too easily. WTF happens HDR: all HDR modes except 1 look like complete crap and in this 1 HDR mode the color space is compressed to sRGB. And all while working with 30-bit color. If you're hoping for a great HDR experience, then this monitor really isn't for you. It's serviceable and a good monitor for watching HDR content and gaming in HDR, but I definitely don't recommend designing in HDR on this monitor. This is disappointing for people looking for a flawless mastering monitor at a great price. The monitor can switch automatically when it detects HDR content, so let it do that, but leave the default at normal wide. No Freesync: This was never intended as a gaming monitor but would be greatly appreciated. The LG equivalent has this feature so I'm a little shocked it wasn't included. Most likely, it will be included in the next model, since it is not currently an expensive addition to monitors. This greatly degrades the gaming experience, especially since it's locked to 60Hz. And that's it, I ranted about the bad parts but that's because overall it's a really great monitor that I recommend to a lot of people. I have a separate monitor for gaming, but other than that it's my main screen every day. Notes for Windows users: 1. If you are connecting via HDMI, you may need to go into settings and enable full color gamut (sometimes limited color gamut is the default setting for HDMI connections)2. To get 30-bit color (10 bits per color), you also need to turn it on manually. On an NVIDIA GPU, this is in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
