I never used Jet-Dry until I got a new Bosch dishwasher. (Bosch makes very good, dependable dishwashers, but the rack designs are the pits!) According to the Bosch manual, Jet-Dry helps dishes dry. Since there strangely appeared to be no dry cycle on the Bosch, I used the included Jet-Dry sample and then started buying it in the grocery store. The dishes are always dry and spotless and I like the Jet-Dry mild scent. Plus, the dishwasher can detect if there is Jet-Dry in the reservoir or not, and adds 10 minutes to any wash cycle if not. Filling the reservoir can be a bit messy, if not done very slowly, but I think that is a problem with the Bosch design, not the Jet-Dry bottle. I've only bought one bottle from Best Buy so far, and it came totally undamaged.
