Review on Shinwa Japanese Combination Square by Tristan Graham

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Perfect - although the dimensions of this square deviate from the carpenter's square

One of the first differences you'll notice is that it's measured in inches from the bottom of the square, not the interior intersection where the reference edge meets the 90° angle. For setting up tools I find this difference valuable and useful as I can set this square on a router table and use a ruler to set the height of the router just like a blade on a table saw. Also, on the 45° side, measurements are taken from bottom to top rather than along the length of the delta wing.

Pros
  • 90 ‹ angular accuracy } 0.1 mm / 100 mm.
Cons
  • Vulgarity
