Review on ⚡ Xantrex PROwatt SW 600W 12V True-Sine Inverter - Model 806-1206 by Charlie Wilson

Good inverter; bad RFI and a STUPID measurement system

This is a good inverter in the sense that the output power quality is good and it delivers the specified power. However, it also has other disadvantages. I don't know if they are important to you. But here's what I found: First, the digital display reads the input voltage, which is normal and seems to be working fine. However, it alternates between voltage display and power display. This is a 2.1 digit display (two whole numbers and a 1/10 fraction). Mine didn't show anything so I went to the manual and read that the display said *kilowatts*! I didn't really believe it because that's how it is. Well, that would be an *incredibly* bad scaling choice for a 600W inverter. So I called Xantrex texh support and they did. Yes, kilowatts. So if you run it at full power, which is 600 watts, you'll only see 00.6 as the power output. I find it almost useless - a very poor design choice. Second, PROwatt 600 is a major source of RF interference. For a "pure sine wave output" I expect the output to be noise free, and for the input I expect decent filtering. Unfortunately it isn't. I'll apply external filtering to both input and output, and if I succeed (noise can be emitted internally) I'll post what I did to solve the problem. I use my power supply. in the solar system at 12.6 volts. It does the job.
