They are great for preventing babies from slamming doors, pinching their fingers or accidentally getting locked in the bathroom. Some species of animals work better than others. For example, a seal, lion, and butterfly are more difficult to place on the hinge area than on the side of a doorknob. Placing them on the hinge side will prevent your fingers from being pinched. Placing them on the side of the doorknob will only prevent the door from being accidentally closed, but your child can still get their finger caught. They also smell a little chemically when you first get them. It's not very noticeable unless you get very close to them, and the smell quickly dissipates once removed from the plastic packaging.
