I was hoping to find an easy way for my staff to stamp error free as this is the cheapest option. Unfortunately, the channel that houses the matrices is too large, which allows the matrices to oscillate vertically. To prevent this you need to hold it with your finger and try not to hit that finger with a hammer. Another problem is that it's difficult to get the full impression of some impressart letters, so you have to go back to hand stamping to complete the job.

I'm new to metal stamping and can be quite clumsy at times. I was worried about getting my fingers off it when making a metal project so I bought this hammer jig to hold my metal stamps in place while I hammered with the hammer. I didn't have to worry and spend money on this item. While the mount does the job it claims, I found it unnecessary and cumbersome when working. If in the future I injure my fingers by not using this device, I may change my mind, but for now I don't find it necessary or

This does exactly what it says on the tin, protects your fingers and keeps the stamp in place. However, it's hard to tell where you placed your stamp when using this jig. This is good for a beginner because you can feel the impact of the die without worrying about breaking your fingers, but once you get used to the impact it just gets in the way.
