Hoping to take a break from carrying more keys I figured combination locks would be a smart move. Maybe. But not with Kensington K64561. After setting the combination, I struggled to lock my MacBook Pro, but I got my way in the end. At the end of the day, the problems started. For about 20 minutes I tried in vain to unlock it - but somehow the lock got stuck. It's not that the code has changed, but that it's stuck and won't resolve. Luckily, not only is it buggy to use, but it's also made from cheap materials. A pair of steel wire cutters plowed through the cable with a click. zero resistance. There wasn't even a dent on the incisors - like cutting silk. After that I took a drill, covered the laptop with a cloth and started drilling the end of the lock. Well, if you bought this lock and it's stuck, you'll be glad to know - you can remove the lock yourself and free your laptop by following these instructions. First, take a small steel drill bit (not too thin), drill one of the small holes next to the button, then increase the size of the drill bits. You'll end up messing up about three bits, but that's about it. Before you begin, take a few precautions - steel bits fall off, so it's best to do it outside. Also, I used safety goggles and a decent dust mask (who knows what's in that thing?). I went deep about three times. After piercing, in a larger size, the thing just pops out. It left a small scar at the lock hole, but not much. For me, this was a lesson I should have considered in other reviews. I didn't, and it cost me time and energy that I will never get back. I should have chosen the top rated lock - key lock as there are fewer moving parts to jam. I saw several negative reviews and just turned a blind eye. One thing I'm glad about is that Kensington makes an awfully cheap lock that's pretty easy to remove IF it's stuck. If it had been of a higher quality, I might not have gotten off so lightly. I sincerely hope that when you read this review you'll return with a key to the lock or at least check out the top rated brand. It was a bad, bad experience.
