Cable protector adhesion problems

I have two, the first had adhesion problems after 6 months and the other after 1.5 years. They were affixed to painted surfaces and thoroughly cleaned before applying the covers. I found some super sticky double sided foam tape in the aftermarket to redesign them and hopefully everything has been fine ever since. Either way, you can use it to "lock" items that don't have a security slot, so that's a plus. However, based on your experience with sticky pads, consider it anti-theft and probably…

Works well as a simple deterrent

Does the job, but it's just a simple deterrent. The cable trap is pretty good and works well in combination with other components. I was able to put 3 cables in it. The adhesive plate is easy to remove with something like a razor blade or a screwdriver. You can remove the adhesive and stick the plate onto something if you like, but then again if someone has small wire cutters they can just cut the cable. The K-slots can usually be bypassed by twisting them very hard. That can destroy the body…

Works great when there are things around that are easier to steal.

I work in an open-plan office that many people walk through every day. As with many places like this, I suspect the theft was an occasional crime rather than a major burglary. So this lock does a great job of deterring the casual thief. It's just a lot easier to steal from the table next to me where nothing is locked than from my table. The Kensington lock does an excellent job of that – five stars. It won't stop a serious burglar who brings a bolt cutter, but if he or she is so invested they…

Pros

Cons
  • Without insurance

Works great in a dorm.

I bought this for my son to use in college to protect his desktop from theft. It attaches easily and works well. We took out insurance on his personal belongings at college, and one of the policy clauses said the items had to have proof that they were stolen. This product would have to be ripped from the back of its desktop and if it were, there would be clear signs of theft and tampering. This product has kept his computer safe so far.

Not left-handed, better than nothing

This is not a kryptonite bike lock. It's more of a subtle reminder, hmm, hey, don't leave with my stuff. While the cable itself would require a fair amount of force to cut through the plastic plate, the small metal-tipped locking inserts are weak points and don't inspire confidence. The connection between cable and locking mechanism seems particularly unfounded. The first device I received could not turn the key to remove the lock from the cable. He turned around as if full of sand, but didn't…

2 are broken, others are in good condition.

Two sliding pieces of metal bent when I tried to insert one into the lock hole on my computer. I can no longer use them. I had to route the lock cable through the handle on my desktop case, which a lot of people don't have. The cable, lock and glue hole are great but the 2 drawers are cheap and poor quality. The photo shows one of the curved parts. The other part was identical and folded the same way, but I threw away the other part to avoid photographing it. Piece off the computer and steal…

upset. cheap quality from well-known brand.

I am disappointed. As far as I remember, this is a brand of cable locks for laptops. Cable: small but normal. Castle: Seems ok. Two locks for standard safety plugs: They seem very weak. The 2 parts are too far apart in my opinion. this. Quality control doesn't seem to be a reality, or maybe it should be. It doesn't really inspire confidence and in fact is a lot worse than any laptop cable lock I've used before, including the Kensington model. The part that sticks to the surface to grab the…

Useless! False sense of security! I cut with a kitchen knife!

Free! I bought it to protect my TV and Xbox One. In the photo you can see where my stuff was and the Kensington cable I used to attach it. My roommate cut the cord with an ordinary kitchen knife (shown in the photo) and pawned my TV and Xbox One. To prevent this I bought the cable. So I had to go to a pawn shop to get my stuff back. (A photo of items from the pawn shop is attached). Not only did I not pay the cost of that useless cable, I lost $145 trying to get my stuff back. Normal kitchen…
