About two years ago I put my Lansky system in a closet and haven't touched it since. I got tired of holding the knife and guide system in one hand and using the staff/stone in the other. I wasn't getting the results I wanted with my knives. I've spent some time learning how to sharpen a ceramic stone by eye and can say I can get a razor sharp edge without any guidance. It took time and a lot of practice to be able to hold the knife at the same angle in both directions. So I saw this clamping system at my local shop the other day and it piqued my interest as I make knives to order and sharpen them all the time. and my friends' knives. I ordered from Revain and used it the first day it arrived. I can say that the rail system attached to this clamp with the Lansky system changed the world. Even though I can do it by hand now, I love it because I give my handmade knives a blade. Rather than look at it I can tell the blade was set at an angle to who I am selling the knife to. My first fear was seeing how small the "knob" is where the track system is. I thought it might pop out when sharpened. And the thought of my knife falling on my leg or foot continued to whirl in my head. So far so good, but I'd still like to see a better or safer way to mount it. I know this is designed to quickly remove and flip the system to make the other side of the blade, but there has to be something that can secure it and still have a quick release. That being said, if you have or plan to buy a Lansky, this is a great system.
