You have to assemble the tool every time. It doesn't look like a latch on the driver's sleeve. It even costs less than 1/10 snap-on. The only complaint is that the tool box doesn't keep the parts in place. I found everything was a mess when I opened it. Then I marked the TOP to avoid an open bottom and messed everything up.
