Review on 🌌 Prusament Galaxy Filament: Enhanced Diameter Tolerance for Optimal Results by Clint Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The hype is real. - 3D printing filament

I ordered it as soon as I saw it was available from Revain, never wanted to pay shipping and wait for it from Prusa. When he finally got here he looked so good I almost didn't want to break the seal. Perfect winding (literally doesn't get any better than that), ultra-tight vacuum packaging, nice spool and fun looking yarn. I worked up the courage to put it on my MK3 and print the SR-71 Blackbird. I started to wonder why I paid too much as my filament works fine but. The first print was great. As others have said, sequins and the like hide layer lines and seams to make your prints look a lot prettier than they would without post-processing. I increased the temperature by 5 degrees after the first print (from 210 to 215). ), since 215-230 is recommended on the packaging. I haven't noticed much of a difference, but it seems that higher temps add a bit more gloss and higher temps almost always result in better layer adhesion, so I'll have to build a makeshift tower later to see how high I can go. So overall it's amazing and I'm now ordering 2 more rolls as it allows me to print parts suitable for display or sale without having to worry about hours of preparation to get them nice enough. In the end, the higher price is more than worth the time and other (non-fibrous) materials saved to me.

Pros
  • High quality materials and rigorous testing - The entire manufacturing process is carefully controlled and tested - filament diameter, color consistency and mechanical properties - to ensure every spool is perfect.
Cons
  • Long delivery time
