The factory thermal interface will eventually become dry and lose its properties, which will have a significant impact on the temperature regime of the stone. This will happen over the course of time. In this scenario, one can choose from the following three paths: 1) Undertake an overclocked reset, either partially or entirely, which will result in a performance loss. 2) Trade in the CO for top airs (Noctua NH-D14 15, Thermalright Silver Arrow and other models of a similar ilk), or invest in good water, which will require a large financial investment. 3) You could decide to "scalp" the CPU and replace the conventional thermal interface with solder, which is a liquid metal, but this puts the stone in serious danger of being ruined. I went with the very last choice. The patient is alive and in good health following the operation, which was a success. While using a standard tower cooler as a CPU cooler and overclocking to 4.7 GHz, the temperature beneath the Linpak for warming up does not go over 72 degrees (previously it reached 95). The modification of the conventional thermal interface resulted in an increase of 23 (!) degrees overall.
