Review on πŸ“± Spigen Tough Armor Galaxy S21 Ultra Case (2021) - Black by Adam Boesel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

My first Spigen case. It's a keeper!

My previous phone (Samsung Galaxy S10+) came with X-Doria Defense Lux Black Carbon Fibre. When I switched to the new Galaxy S21 Ultra, X-Doria, now Raptic no longer has a Defense Lux for the new phone. After spending some time searching, I came across the case of Spigen Tough Armor. Due to the new, much larger camera curvature, one of my search criteria was to hide it as much as possible. In the short time I've used the S21 Ultra uncoated, the spot on the side edge where the camera protrusion began kept digging into my palm. This obviously increases the overall thickness of the case, but it's still acceptable. In addition, greater thickness means better back protection. While I don't think the side protection is on par with the X-Doria Defense Lux, it's pretty close due to the polycarbonate shell that sits on top of the TPU. The case holds the phone. cozy inside. The edges of the case do not move easily when you press them with your finger. The body feels a bit bulky, but keep in mind that the Galaxy S21 Ultra itself is larger than the Galaxy S10+. The cover does not appear slippery and feels comfortable. otherwise in hand. Since the camera hump is completely covered, the back makes flat. This comes in handy when you use your phone once or twice to check if the surface is flat. The front top and bottom bezels are raised. So if you place the phone on a flat surface, there will be a gap of about 1.5mm between the surfaces. and glass. Removing the case is easier than the X-Doria Defense Lux. The only weak point of this case is the footrest. It looks fragile and flops when stretched. However, I didn't downplay my rating just because the kickstand isn't a feature I'll be using more than a few times. I have no problem with fast wireless charging my phone in a case. The last plus of this case is that it is compatible with screen protectors, at least Whitestone Dome. The top and bottom bezels are still raised more than 1mm above the protective glass surface. The curved sides of the protective glass nestle very closely to the side edges without touching them. So close that I can't see the gap between the glass and the case frame, but I can feel it with my fingernails. The top edge of the lens is again very close to the top bezel, but the distance between the bottom of the lens and the bottom bezel is slightly greater. Of course I believe the problem is with the glass and not the case as I could see this difference between the top and bottom after the protective glass was installed and before I put the phone in the case. As a plus, the case hides the gaps around the protective glass better than I've seen in photos and videos with other cases. Yes, it's a guard!
