Review on API Freshwater Aquarium Raising Solution by Blair Foster

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The bottle has leaked. Traces of a dried chemical were found in the shipping carton.

I was very disappointed when I received this package (Batch #31A0918). A liquid solution flowed from the vial. When I opened the bottle there was no cap to let the liquid flow out. There were traces of a dried chemical inside the box, suggesting the liquid had entered through the bag. I've been a chemist for over 40 years and I know the chemical isn't dangerous so I wasn't too worried about the chemical, just the quality of the packaging. Because it is technically a chemical solution, the Federal Transportation Board requires chemical shipments to be accompanied by a Material Safety Data Sheet. I will definitely not buy this product again. By the way, this product is just a baking soda solution. You can add small spoonfuls of baking soda, which you probably have in your pantry, to raise the pH until it's in that range.

Pros
  • Check the water weekly and use it to adjust the pH value in freshwater aquariums.
Cons
  • Disappearing Effect
