4 foot yellow shadow in the center

I placed the lantern at a height of 14 feet, there was a 4 foot shadow in the center of the light fixture. Outside of that 4ft center it was very bright. What's good about a bright light with a 4ft shadow in the middle. I am returning the lamps.
