Security is better to have than not to have.
Used for the first time and felt completely safe. Maybe play a little, but not much. It will easily secure your ladder in place. There is no longer a moving ladder when exiting a roof. Another thing to keep your calm when it's windy outside. I don't have to worry about my ladder banging through the backyard or front yard into neighboring windows, cars, people, etc. I'm also buying a Lock Jaw ladder grab so I'll be using both.
